Inaugural
City on the Move
The city, its inhabitants, locations, day-to-day happenings and its constant transformation is the theme of this site-specific event. Marking the opening of the Attakkalari India Biennial 2009, contemporary urban life and its distant traces are brought to life, animating the entire architecture of the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. Dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, digital artists, light designers, architects, carnival artists and costume designers from different parts of the world stretch the boundaries of performance in this trans-disciplinary work.
Artists and organisations collaborating in this event include Kinetika (U.K.), Brouhaha International (U.K), Christian Ziegler( Germany), Lorenzo Brusci (Italy), Thomas Dotzler (Sweden), Kunihiko Matsuo, Kaoru and Mitsuaki Matsumoto, Naoki Hamanaka (Japan) and from India – TransMedia Technologies, Shambik Ghose, Mitul SenGupta along with a group of eminent percussionists join dancers from Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts.
