Master Classes
February 8th | South Korea | from - CcadoO
Improvisation/Release Technique
This contemporary modern dance technique class will incorporate movement that is athletically challenging, nuanced, and rhythmically complex. Class will start on the floor in which participants will sense their skeletons and anatomy, and progress to standing phrases focused on sensing the weight of the pelvis, small, quick weight shifts, and the three-dimensionality of the spine and torso. Locomotive and large center phrases will emphasize inversions and floor-work, clarity in direction and spatial awareness, large athletic movements, and attention to detail and phrasing.

Hip-Hop/New Style
The Newstyle workshop will include learning self-choreographed pieces set to recent music-tracks of well-known Hip Hopers.
Instruction on body control, feeling for music und especially the transformation of the body through music will be imparted.
The workshop addresses both Hip Hop dancers and dancers of different styles, who would like to enhance their range of body expressions and who are interested in new styles and movements.
B-Boying
The B-Boying workshop deals with Uprocking, Footworks and Tricking. The so-called Uprocking is one of the basics of this kind of dancing which is about the direct (dancing) fight with the opponent. The Footwork are the steps on the floor which offer plenty of variations, due to their diversity, in which even the basic steps, in different combinations, will help the dancer find his own, unique style.
The element described as Tricking consists basically of Freezes and very unique body movements. The workshop will demonstrate how to make these movements part of B-Boying without losing the essence of the dance.
Funkstyle-Basics
Basis techniques will be taught which are indispensable for all kinds of Street dance styles such as B-Boying, Popping, Locking, Newstyle or even House. Many of the steps like Shamrock or Rocksteady are independent dance styles from the '70s and '80s, also known as so-called social dances which were performed to particular songs in clubs and in which all partygoers participated.
The emphasis in these styles is on having fun. Most of the techniques are easy to learn, but are very effective and form the foundation for a funky dance feeling.
Floorworks
This workshop is especially aimed at dancers who would like to amplify their range of body expressions.Through years of experience as a B-Boy I have developed a certain type of "Floor Moves".The intention of this workshop is to learn and apply movements on the ground such as Slides, Spins or Steps.
The "gentle" ground/floor treatment is an important base for almost all dance styles starting from Contemporary to Newstyle and House Dance.

Physical Training
In this highly physical class, we will explore the use of weight, momentum and fluidity. The phrases are athletic and challenging, building awareness of both subtle and full-bodied initiations. The warm-up for this class combines various somatic techniques with more "traditional" modern dance exercises, emphasizing an integrated approach to movement. As part of each session, we also will investigate improvisational structures and manipulation of the choreography presented.
